How Other Plants Get Affected by Leyland Cypress?
Due to its rapid growth and shallow roots, the Leyland Cypress is more prone to storms than slower-growing native trees which can result in increased damage from winds and heavy rains. Additionally, because this tree does not drop much of its leaves, it can create too much shade for ground-level plants. Ultimately, the unchecked proliferation of this species could further strain an already fragile balance between certain types of trees present in a particular environment. This is how the growth rate of Leyland Cypress can affect other plants surrounding it.
